Kellie + Blake: Boston Engagement Session in September

Kellie and Blake met online more than six years ago. This was a time before dating apps, so they told people they first met in a Boston bar. Technically, this is true! Their first date was in Davis Square in Somerville, where they met for a drink at the Foundry. Things were going so well there that they moved over to Painted Burro for lots of margaritas. To this day, Kellie says that the Painted Burro is their favorite restaurant, and they return there frequently. Both the Mexican food and their relationship has withstood this test of time!

I was able to join Kellie, Blake, and their dog, Luna, for an engagement photo session in the Boston Seaport, primarily along the Boston Harborwalk. It was a day to celebrate every part of their love story, from their shared favorite restaurants to their new ventures into CrossFit to the day Blake surprised Kelly with two huge events.

It was December 9, 2017. Kellie remembers it as, "by far, the most special day of my life." Blake's birthday falls on December 6, Kellie's falls on December 23. She went into this day thinking that she was taking him out for his birthday dinner, but the tables were certainly turned! Blake spent the whole week talking about how much he wanted to go to Central Bistro in Downtown Crossing because his friend is one of its owners. When the night finally came, it was the first snowfall of the season! Normally, Kellie would use this a wonderful reason to stay cozy indoors. Because it was Blake's birthday dinner, though, she decided to tough it out. And it's a good thing she did! Blake surprised her with a huge 30th birthday party, filled with her entire family and all of her closest friends. About a half hour into the party, though, Blake took the surprise to a new level: he got everyone's attention before dropping to one knee to propose!

This storybook engagement is reflected in their photos together. The Boston skyline provided a gorgeous backdrop for their romance, while Luna added some playfulness, along with the gusts of wind coming in off the water. Their shared love of laughter was highly evident during our session, which made it even easier for me to capture their personalities on my camera.

Don't think for a moment that they're perfect, though! While they do share many passions, activities, and favorite restaurants, there is one thing they do not share. Blake's favorite food is, hands down, tacos. Kellie, however, prefers ANY other food more than she prefers tacos! :)

I am so excited to be their wedding photographer in Boston State Room in October 2019!
